Duke wins!

May 2, 2010

Did I mention….

Duke is the 2010 Men’s basketball national champions!

I won’t brag too much, but no one even gave them a chance.  I nearly had an opportunity to witness the final game myself, but I played adult and stayed home instead.  One of my college friends still went though, and I’m still a bit jealous.  (Hope you had a blast Beth!)  Regardless it was an awesome night, I got to watch the game with my parents, who are also SERIOUS Duke fans.  My mom actually had to leave the room towards the end of the game because she couldn’t handle it.

I miss being able to watch the games with my Dad.  We both yell at the TV and get into the game, and it’s just a lot of fun.  It was a nice treat to end the season watching Duke win it all together.

So, YAY DUKE!

In even better news, Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler are both coming back next year, not to mention the Plumlee brothers, so it should be another wild season!!

Congrats Duke – 2010 ACC Champs!

March 14, 2010

The Duke Blue Devils have done it again and clenched another Men’s ACC basketball championship title!  They had me a little worried down the stretch, Georgia Tech came close, but Duke prevailed!  The tournament committee saw today’s win was enough to give them a #1 seed.  Way to go Duke! 😀

I can’t wait for the tournament to start!

Tournament Time

March 14, 2010

Ah March… how I love this time of the year!

It’s so bittersweet.  College basketball tournaments everywhere you look (of course the ACC is my focus!) and then of course March Madness!  Then it’s all over though, so while I love it, I miss it when it’s gone.

The last few days I’ve been totally consumes with the ACC tournament, and Duke is in the championship game right now against Georgia Tech!

All I can say for the moment is, GO DUKE!

A Team Travesty

April 8, 2009

As I mentioned in my previous post, I’ve started taking a cake decorating class.  That has left me with cake on the brain, and so I was thinking since my birthday is coming up maybe I would make myself a Duke Blue Devils cake, if I could manage it, because that could be pretty neat.

Well, I did a search for some inspiration, and none of the things I’ve turned up have really been, well… any good.  This one, however… brings me to an all new level of sadness.  How any self-respecting Blue Devils fan would have actually PAID for this is even worse…

I give you the Duke Blue Devils cake… text only… in THE WRONG COLOR ICING.

dbd-oops

Now I would submit this to one of my favorite blogs, Cake wrecks, but it’s not up to quite her usual standards… however… to those who know the rivals of Duke… this cake is just NOT okay.

Alright, rant over, but seriously!  I can’t actually believe I am even putting this on my blog, it hurts…

March Madness

March 16, 2009

So it begins…

Yesterday, obviously I was elated that Duke won the ACC championship.

Today, I am excited about the NCAA tournament starting this week… and the road to the Final Four.

Then it hits me, like it does every year, that I can’t turn on the television at any given moment and find a basketball game on anymore.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE this time of year.  March Madness is college basketball at its finest, and I love gearing up for the games and having basketball to watch all weekend… but I know the end is coming.  As much as I love this time of year, when it’s over I suffer serious college basketball withdrawal.  So while I’m trying not to dwell on the ends and enjoy the road to get there… it’s coming.

So here’s to enjoying the rest of March and all that is college basketball.  Oh yeah, and GO DUKE!

ACC Tournament Champs!

March 15, 2009

The Duke Blue Devils have once again claimed the ACC Tournament title.

Of course with it being selection Sunday, there’s still much to come…

That doesn’t mean I can’t be super happy that they won today though! 😀

Way to go Duke!

Now, on this rainy and somewhat dreary afternoon, I think I’ll go bake something.

Flashback Friday

March 6, 2009

In honor of it being March… I’m going to flashback to one of my favorite roadtrips.

It was the spring of 2005… St. Patrick’s day to be exact, and my friend Kristen and I decided at around 1:00 am (after we had been out enjoying all that is St. Patrick’s day) that we would in fact make a 5+ hour drive to Charlotte, North Carolina the next morning to see Duke play in the first round of the NCAA tournament, against Delaware State if I recall correctly.  Granted, they lost in the sweet 16, but we got to see them play, and that made it ALL worth it!

Unfortunately I’m having a bit of trouble locating all the photos from that trip, but this one (although small) says it all:

Go Blue Devils!!

It’s a confetti cupcake… blanket?

March 5, 2009

Since I have not yet been able to finish Amy’s scarf because of the elusive charcoal yarn… I have put it aside until further notice.

However, I have started a new project!

Want to see what happen when I watched television Friday night, and then there were three ACC basketball games back-to-back last Saturday?

The beginnings of confetti-cupcake looking baby blanket. 🙂

I think it’s progressing quite nicely… can’t wait until another afternoon of basketball!

Duke: This is OUR HOUSE!

January 26, 2009

I love college basketball.  In case you missed the massacre of the Maryland Terrapins by the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, here is a lovely recap of some amazing Duke offense.

Gerald Henderson is a huge asset for the Duke line-up this year.  He scored 17 points with 8 rebounds and 4 assists in Saturday’s game.  Of course he didn’t do it alone, the entire team was working like a well-oiled machine and they shut down the Terrapins early.  Their defense makes their offense happen.  It’s amazing to watch.  I only hope they play as well Wednesday night against Wake Forest as they did on Saturday.  It should be a sight to see without a doubt.
