February 14th again!

February 14, 2012

My husband sent me flowers at work yesterday.  Who needs flowers on Valentine’s day when you can get them early all by yourself? 🙂  It was incredibly sweet and certainly caught me by surprise.  He’s getting better at surprising me.  Usually we are both TERRIBLE at keeping things a surprise. It’s even better because I know it was more frugal to send flowers to me yesterday instead of today, and I happen to know that the florist he got them at was having a special. If you sent flowers on the 13th the recipient got free candy and a balloon!  So, I’m even happier that he sent me flowers AND he was more frugal about it, AND I got a bonus!

Fall themed cake

October 31, 2010

My husband’s office had a fall/ Halloween luncheon for the staff and their families on Friday.  They had called me previously to see if I’d make a cake for the event and here is the finished work.  I was relatively pleased with it.

There was a chocolate cake layer and a yellow cake layer with vanilla/almond buttercream icing.  Overall I think that most people enjoyed it, so that was good too!

So happy fall and happy Halloween!

Happy St. Pat’s Day!

March 17, 2010

I also had to add a note about a license plate that I saw today.  On the way to the gym tonight (that’s right, personal trainer kicked my butt!) there was a license plate in front of me that said MTV SUX.  I found it hilarious, but also VERY random.  I guess that person really doesn’t care for MTV. Haha.

I also hit a decent deal tonight at the grocery store.  Went in and used one coupon for two items.  It wasn’t the BEST deal, but we needed sandwich meat, so I will settle for 26% savings.

This saving thing really is taking a hold.  Now if I can just get going to the gym and working out (and eating better) to be as exciting to me as saving money, then this just might turn out to truly be a year of change!

Happy New Year!

January 2, 2010

2010… how did this happen?  I mean, I’m super excited about the new year, I am ready to set some realistic goals for myself in all parts of my life: spiritual, physical, business, and personal too.

It’s hard to believe all the things that have happen in the last year alone, but especially in the last decade!  I graduated high school, college, dated, had some bad jobs, made some fantastic friends, drifted from some good friends, met a wonderful man, got married, became a godmother, started a new career path that I’m determined to do well with and have learned that if I set my mind to it and put my faith in God I really can do just about anything.

Also had a great New Year’s Eve: good fun with great friends and LOTS of yummy food… have some great recipes I might be posting from the night… if I want to share that is. Haha!  Some of them are just so good!

I also made the wonderful Fantasy Fudge recipe that I posted previously… thank you Kraft Marshmallow Fluff!

So happy new year!  Here’s to 2010 and I hope we have a great year together!  Do you have any resolutions?  I’m working on a list… maybe if I write it down for everyone to see I’ll be more accountable to them.

Merry Christmas!

December 25, 2009

I hope that you all have a very merry Christmas, and  remember the reason for the season.

God Bless!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

December 23, 2009

Busy Busy Busy… that sums up me this week.  Not much time really to write this moment either, have to get some sleep to go to work to do it all over again. 🙂

That tends to be the drill.

Here’s a quick little photo from my husband’s office Christmas party a few weekends ago to keep you interested… if it keeps you interested.  It’s not the best photo of me, but, well, we’re all our own worst critics, am I right?

Merry Christmas to Us!

December 17, 2009

So, the husband and I have been looking at getting Rock Band for a LONG time now.  We finally came across what we found to be a really great deal here, and we finally got it!

So, included in that deal was Rock Band AND Rock Band 2, the microphone, guitar and drum set… but of course we want to be able to have friends over and play all four parts, so I decided to get… wait for it:

That’s right, I’m a pretty big Aerosmith fan (and keep hoping they are not in fact breaking up…) and believe it or not, it was actually cheaper to get the Aerosmith Guitar hero bundle with the guitar AND game, then it was to simply but another Rock Band guitar.

Now, I thought that this game would be fun, I really did.  We had played it with some friends before and had a good time, but I didn’t truly realize HOW MUCH FUN it would be.  It’s nearly addicting.  So there’s been lots of fun playing that when we’ve had time.  It’s really fun when friends come over to play too!

Now, onto the main reason I was going to post this.  I came across this video yesterday, and I think it’s amazing!  Especially since we just got rock band and guitar hero, it made me appreciate it even more.  How cool are the things people come up with these days, right?
